VARIOUS OF PALESTINIANS CARRYING BODIESDEIR AL-BALAH, GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - MAY 21, 2025: A one-day-old baby was among those killed in an Israeli airstrike on Wednesday, May 21, that targeted the Al-Kahlout family home in the central Gaza Strip. The bodies of the deceased, including women and children, as well as the injured, were transported to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah. Mourning relatives gathered in the hospital yard, where a funeral prayer was held before bidding farewell to their loved ones. On Tuesday, the UN said no aid had been distributed in Gaza and that 14,000 babies were at risk of dying within 48 hours without life-saving food and supplements. Rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has pursued a brutal offensive against Gaza since October 2023, killing nearly 53,600 Palestinians, most of them women and children. The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
