Taree, Australia - May 22, 2025 At least one person was killed, and tens of thousands were stranded as raging floodwaters inundated towns, causing power cuts, and road closures in Australia¾s New South Wales (NSW) state, local media reported Thursday. Another three people have been reported missing on the stateĿs mid-north coast, according to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Flood warnings for NSW residents have expanded to new regions as life-threatening heavy rain continues to hammer the stateȉs mid-north coast. NSW Police confirmed on Thursday that the body of a 63-year-old man was found in his flood-hit home in the Moto region on the stateʦs mid-north coast, while an estimated 50,000 people have been isolated by the floodwaters.
