A pensioner demonstrated how he uses a pulley system he built to easily collect parcels from the ground floor.

Footage shows Rogel Barrera, 61, dragging a rope that lifts a basket up to his second-floor window in Manila, the Philippines.

The makeshift device was attached to a cabinet in their kitchen which they used to quickly receive deliveries.

It carried small items with ease, sparing the family from the effort of climbing stairs.

They also put the payment on the container and lowered it down.

His son Ely Barrera said: 'We live in a three floor building and our apartment's on the second floor.

'My dad's already old, and he's getting tired of going up and down the stairs just to get our parcels.

So, he got a little creative and tied a rope to a basket. He asks the delivery guy to put the packages in it.

'Then he pulls it up like a fisherman reeling in a big catch.'
