-KIRSEHIR, TÜRKİYE - APR. 10, 2025: Snipers from the Turkish Gendarmerie Commando Special Public Security Command carried out advanced marksmanship drills on April 10 across land, air, and sea platforms in the central province of Kirsehir, successfully hitting their targets under demanding conditions. The training included precision shooting from helicopters, moving boats, and fixed ground positions. Wearing camouflage ghillie suits, the snipers used domestically produced rifles, including the .308-caliber Bora-12, .338-caliber KN-12, and .50-caliber KSR 50. Turkish gendarmerie snipers and their spotters are handpicked from within the force, either through stringent selection criteria or after completing specialized counterterrorism training. Those selected undergo an intensive four-week sniper program designed to prepare them for high-risk missions in both urban and mountainous terrain. The role demands exceptional physical stamina, emotional resilience, and mental sharpness. Candidates are trained to endure fatigue and sleep deprivation while maintaining precise focus, quick mental calculation, and operational effectiveness under extreme pressure.
