Los Angeles, United States - May 29, 2025 05/29/2025 01:30 am GMT-0700 SAN DIMAS, Calif. – The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, in conjunction with the California Highway Patrol and the Los Angeles County Fire Department, responded to several 911 calls from motorists on the northbound side of the 57 Freeway near Covina. The callers reported seeing smoke and fire emanating from a building near the intersection of Covina Boulevard and the freeway. Sheriffs from the San Dimas station arrived at the scene of the fire, which was situated at a commercial building in the 600 block of Terrace Drive. Firefighters promptly joined the response and discovered pallets on fire. They were able to contain the blaze within 30 to 45 minutes of the initial reports. According to information from the LACoFD at the scene, the fire was believed to have originated from a possible homeless encampment along the 57 Freeway, which had spread to the pallets.
