I was going too fast on unfamiliar terrain and very nearly payed the ultimate price for it. I hit a 1.5m (5foot) tall concrete wall suddenly at nearly 100kmh (60mph) snapping the bikes frame, forks and wheel. Over £3600 worth of damage. I only suffered relatively minor injuries considering the crash. A mild left shoulder avulsion (mild ligament tear), a mild concussion, a busted lip, two black eyes and a lot of pain. I had a crash a month earlier where I suffered multiple grade 2 splenic lacerations a grade 3 kidney laceration and internal bleeding. I was only 3 weeks into a 3 month recovery from that injury so I was very worried about reinjuring and bleeding out many kilometers from any sort of help.
