...WARSAW, POLAND - JUNE 11, 2025: Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s coalition government survived a vote of no-confidence on Wednesday, as partners maintained their support for the 18-month-old coalition, voting 243 in favor to 210 against in the 460-seat lower house of the chamber. Lawmakers voted to continue the Civic Coalition's (KO), Third Way-PSL, and Left coalition government. The ruling coalition has 242 MPs, but it received one lawmaker's additional support during the no-confidence vote in parliament. The vote was called two days after KO candidate Rafal Trzaskowski was defeated by opposition PiS-aligned Karol Nawrocki on June 1. PSL earlier this week polled its members to see if they would support forming an alternative governing coalition with the national-conservative PiS and the far-right Confederation, two opposition parties. Tusk announced before the vote that a government spokesman would be appointed in June, followed by a government reshuffle in July. He also praised his government's health care record, which included restoring public funding for in vitro fertilization and securing Poland's border. The main opposition Law and Justice (PiS) benches in parliament were empty, with a few exceptions. Its leader, Jaroslaw Kaczynski, called on the government to resign. The government will begin working on the budget act for 2026 on Thursday.
