Israel on Friday launched Operation Rising Lion to strike at Iran’s nuclear, missile and military complex. The strikes left key military commanders and nuclear scientists dead. "We struck the senior command, we struck senior scientists advancing nuclear weapons development, we struck nuclear installations," Netanyahu said in a televised address, flanked by top security officials. Netanyahu called on all citizens of the Jewish state to strictly follow the IDF Home Front Command guidelines, saying, “There are no ‘easy’ wars. He warned citizens to prepare for a prolonged conflict, urging adherence to safety guidelines amid expectations of Iranian retaliation. The Prime Minister urged Israelis to not only stock up on supplies for the coming war, but “most importantly on patience, faith in the justice of our cause and confidence in our victory.” “With God’s help, we are going to achieve a lot of accomplishments thanks to you and thanks to our brave soldiers,” Netanyahu added. At least 18 people were killed and 35 injured on Friday in fresh Israeli strikes on Iran’s northeast province of East Azerbaijan, according to state-run media. The latest casualties bring the death toll from Israel's airstrike on Iranian soil since early Friday to 104, with 376 injured. The strike also targeted Tehran and Tabriz, the capital of East Azerbaijan Province. Israel launched a large-scale attack early Friday, deploying around 200 aircraft to target Iran’s nuclear program and long-range missile capabilities. Several senior Iranian military officials and nuclear scientists were killed in the strikes. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the “targeted” military operation will continue as long as necessary. Iran has vowed "severe punishment" and called for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council. Writing by Sibel Uygun
