GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - JUNE 17, 2025: An Israeli airstrike on Gaza’s Bureij refugee camp has left multiple children dead or injured on Tuesday, June 17, according to local sources. The airstrike reportedly hit the house of Abu Shamaleh family in the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, killing at least 8 Palestinians and injuring many others. Most of the injured, many of them babies and children, were transferred to al-Awda Hospital in the Nuseirat refugee camp for treatment. Gaza's health system is "at a breaking point," the World Health Organization warned Tuesday, as military operations, mass displacement, and blocked humanitarian access push medical services across the strip toward collapse. Only 17 of Gaza's 36 hospitals are currently partially functional, with just four, including Nasser Medical Complex, serving as referral facilities. Rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has pursued a brutal offensive against Gaza since October 2023, killing over 55,400 Palestinians, most of them women and children. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
