PROTESTER LIGHTING TORCHROME, ITALY - JUNE 17: Demonstrators marched to Israeli Embassy in Rome on Tuesday, June 17, to protest Israel’s attacks on Gaza and Iran, accusing the government in Tel Aviv of escalating violence in the region. The rally, organized by students and solidarity groups, began at Thorvaldsen Square in central Rome. Protesters carried Palestinian flags and anti-Israel banners, and they called for a larger nationwide protest on June 21 against Israeli policies. "Stop the genocide," "We are all anti-Zionists, we are all Palestinians," "Zionist Israel is a terrorist state," "Free Gaza, Free Palestine," the crowd shouted as they marched peacefully towards the Israeli Embassy. Police maintained a strong security presence in the area. In a separate protest in Milan, Italy’s second-largest city, demonstrators gathered outside the Duomo Cathedral to draw attention to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Regional tensions have escalated since Friday, when Israel launched coordinated airstrikes on multiple sites across Iran, including military and nuclear facilities, prompting Tehran to launch retaliatory strikes. Israeli authorities said that at least 24 people have been killed and hundreds injured in Iranian missile attacks since Friday. Iran, for its part, said that at least 224 people have been killed and over 1,000 others wounded in the Israeli assault.
