A brave young boy attempted to rescue a cat fell into a river littered with waste in Mumbai, India.

Fortunately Saïd Aziza was passing and managed to step in to help pull both and boy and the cat from out of the dirty water.

Aziza told Newsflare: "While I was livestreaming on TikTok in the streets of Mumbai, India, I heard a cat crying in distress. I followed the sound and found a young boy, about 13 years old, trying to save the cat. The animal was stuck on a floating pile of garbage in a toxic black river, right beside a large rat.

"The boy courageously reached out his hand. The cat made an incredible jump and latched onto the boy's hand with its claws. The pain and shock made him lose balance, and both fell into the filthy water.

"What made me furious is that no one helped. Several people were watching, and I was struggling to pull the child out because the river is very low and difficult to access from street level. I had to put my phone down, lean dangerously forward, and use both hands to pull him out by myself.

"I resumed filming just after the rescue. The boy, clearly in shock, was focused on the pain in his hand. It was bleeding from the cat's claws and had been exposed to the polluted water. I immediately guided him to a nearby water tap so he could rinse it, despite the language barrier."
