This is the incredible moment a young man in India was rescued from an underwater sewage pipe by the local fire department after reportedly being swept away while swimming in a river on September 20.

Video supplied with permission from the local Nashik Fire Brigade shows first responders frantically sawing at the grill underneath which is Amardeep Mohanrai. The half-naked youth had been swept away but managed to attract the attention of locals by shouting through the grill.

Amardeep Mohanrai, an 18-year-old youth, was swept away in a stream while swimming in the water. Going further, this young man got stuck in the drain. It happened in Nashik city, on the banks of Godvari river near Rajghat in Maharashtra state.

The young man had gone for Ganapati (Lord Ganesh) idol visarjan.. It is a ritual in the end of the day when the idol is submerged in the water after the festival, he then dived in the water but got carried away with the flow of the water from the stream to the sewerage through which it flows.
The incident is of Ram Ghat.

Now there are net mesh in between the sewerage to restrict the flow and stop any waste material, the boy then got stuck in the net in the sewerage drain and cried for help, a few passerby had heard his cries and called the fire brigade to rescued the chap.

Citizens informed the municipal fire brigade. Firefighters immediately rushed to Ganga Ghata in Godavari river They cut the Iron net with a cutter machine and released the young man safely.
