This is the terrifying moment a bulging tree snake slithered up a wall after devouring a gecko.

Footage shows the swollen 7ft golden tree snake climbing up the white bathroom wall of a home in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.

With its belly bulging, the reptile hauled itself up the vertical surface before disappearing into a small hole leading outside on June 23.

Resident Peera Pitaktrakul, 53, said: 'I was just about to go to the toilet when I was shocked to see the large green snake trying to escape through a hole where the aircon drainage pipe used to be.

'Its belly was bulging. It must have eaten the gecko living behind our washing machine.

'I grabbed my phone to film it because it was a rare sight. I wasn't too scared because I knew the snake wasn't venomous. It took more than five minutes to finally slip through the hole.'

The golden tree snake is a mildly venomous arboreal snake native to South and Southeast Asia. It is known for its striking green-yellow pattern and ability to glide between trees.
