Storm turns steps into waterfall as student poses for graduation pictures
A storm turned the steps leading to a graduation venue into a waterfall as a student posed for pictures.
Footage shows water cascading down the staircase while Irene Zacarias made her way up to the ceremony in Benguet province, the Philippines.
Irene removed her high heels and lifted the ends of her gown to keep them dry as she carefully climbed the flooded path.
Despite the downpour, her spirits remained high, and she even paused midway to smile for photos on July 1.
Proud sister Irish said: ‘It was rainy during Saint Louis University's graduation, but we all had a memorable day.'
Irene laughed with her family as they watched water rush past, turning the walkway into a stream.
She arrived at the hall safely but used a different route to exit afterwards.
The Philippines and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are at the start of their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms. The rudimentary infrastructure often struggles with the deluge, leading to widespread flash floods.
