[Voiceover] A Chinese developed and manufactured smart research and training ship has just completed its autonomous navigation tests in a narrow water course, marking a leap for China's maritime tech. The 70-meter-long vessel is packed with AI technology and will be used for maritime research and training, officials from the China Ocean Shipping Company said. [Soundbite] Sun Feng, Researcher, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry (Dalian) Co., Ltd.: "Simply put, once we input the destination port into the control console, the ship can autonomously complete the navigation mission. The onboard sensors enable the ship to independently assess, make decisions, and control its movements based on environmental conditions." [Voiceover] In narrow waterways, where complicated conditions and limited space present challenges for even the most veteran of captains, the ship navigates autonomously, without human intervention. Since its official commissioning nearly a year ago, the ship has successfully completed multiple key tests, including autonomous docking and undocking, open-water autonomous navigation, multi-vessel collision avoidance, and shore-based remote control.
