In a moment that’s both heartwarming and heartbreaking, TikTok user @amira.shammala shared a video of her 9-month-old son Yaman attempting to crawl out of their tent in Gaza, yearning to explore the world beyond the canvas walls. The clip, which has garnered over 2 million views, shows Yaman peeking through the tent window, his only glimpse of the outside world.

Amira explains that since being displaced by ongoing bombing, her family has been living in tented camps, where conditions are dire. Yaman suffers from skin diseases caused by insects, polluted air, and contaminated water, and despite her efforts, medical care is inaccessible or unaffordable.

“Even if medications are available in private pharmacies, they’re extremely expensive, and we can never afford them,” Amira says in the video.
