This is the dramatic moment helicopters dumped water to battle wildfires spreading across Turkey.

Multiple wildfires burned over 10,500 hectares in Izmir province, prompting immediate fire rescue efforts on July 2.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry deployed nine fixed-wing aircraft, 22 helicopters, and around 1,100 fire trucks and support vehicles.

Firefighters and aerial support teams successfully brought the blazes under control after an intense overnight operation in Cesme on July 4.

Aerial footage shows aircraft dropping vast quantities of water over the affected areas, aiding ground crews in containing the flames.

Local media reported the fire was caused by a faulty power line, which rapidly spread through shrubland, olive groves, and rural settlements as wind gusts reached 85 km/h (53 mph).

More than 50,000 residents were evacuated across the province as a precaution, and over 200 homes were damaged or destroyed.

The wildfires claimed two lives, including an 81-year-old resident in Odemis and a forestry worker.

Fire rescue efforts continue as the inferno still burns in Odemis and Buca.

Authorities reassured locals, saying: 'We will keep defending our Green Homeland with all our strength.'

Since the start of 2025, Turkey has recorded 3,044 wildfires nationwide. Around 624 fires ignited in the last week alone, of which 621 had been brought under control by July 4.
