The historic Christian girls’ summer camp confirmed on Monday that 27 campers and counselors died after the Guadalupe River overflowed, inundating the camp and surrounding areas. “Camp Mystic is grieving the loss of 27 campers and counselors following the catastrophic flooding on the Guadalupe River,” the camp said in a statement. The facility added that it continues to work with authorities in search and recovery efforts and expressed gratitude for the support received from the community and emergency services. The death toll from flash floods in the US state of Texas has risen to 91, the White House said Monday. "Moments ago, the Department of Homeland Security provided an update that 91 innocent souls have now perished," spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt told reporters. Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha said Monday that his county saw 75 deaths due to the floods, including 48 adults and 27 children, with 15 of the adults and nine of the children as yet unidentified.
