US: Devastating Aftermath of Nenana Ridge Complex Fire in Alaska
Fairbanks, United States - July 05, 2025 The video captures the stark and devastating scenes left by the Nenana Ridge Complex Fire, which has become the top firefighting priority in the state. The Alaska Incident Management Team 2, now leading operations, has been actively working to contain the blaze. The complex combines the 12,133-acre Bonanza Creek Fire and the 18,086-acre fire due to their close proximity. About 360 personnel and extensive equipment are engaged in battling the fires. Level 3 “GO” evacuations have been ordered along key stretches of the Parks Highway, impacting residences within a one-mile radius, including the Little Goldstream Creek area. Pilot car operations are in effect, with wait times up to one hour, depending on conditions. Significant rainfall on July 3 helped firefighters adapt their tactics, dampening fire activity temporarily. However, warmer and drier weather is expected, potentially reigniting fire behavior. Protective measures around structures near Little Goldstream are in place, including fire breaks and hose lays. Firefighters have shifted focus to prioritize structure protection due to challenging road conditions from the rain. Evacuation shelters remain open in Fairbanks and Nenana, with additional support services including emergency animal shelters and clean air rooms for those affected by smoke. Nearby Interior Alaska fires such as Himalaya Road, Aggie Creek, and Obrien also benefited from the wet weather but remain uncontained. The video underscores the ongoing challenges and critical response efforts to protect communities and contain the fires ravaging Alaska’s wilderness.
