On July 13, crowds flooded the streets of Manhattan, eagerly anticipating the rare event known as Manhattanhenge, when the sun perfectly aligns with the city’s east-west grid, offering a stunning visual spectacle.

Footage shared by X user NewYorkCityKopp captures packed sidewalks filled with people holding cameras and phones, all waiting for the famed sunset.

The previous evening’s brilliant sunset had fueled high hopes among onlookers. However, heavy cloud cover moved in, obscuring the sky and preventing the anticipated sight.

“No Manhattanhenge tonight due to cloud cover. A lot of disappointed people tonight,” NewYorkCityKopp posted.

Gradually, the crowd dispersed as the cloudy sky stole the chance for this once-a-year show.
