Motorists work together to catch young child who rode toy car onto highway in China
On July 14 in Qingdao, Shandong Province, a young child riding a toy car suddenly veered into traffic on a busy road, prompting a parent to sprint after him in a desperate attempt to catch up. The situation was extremely dangerous.
At that critical moment, three passing vehicles simultaneously switched on their hazard lights, slowed down, and drove alongside the child, forming a moving “protective barrier” that shielded him from harm and bought precious time for the parent to intervene.
Eyewitness Mr Zhao explained that the child had mistaken the chase for a game and sped up. Thanks to the coordinated effort of the drivers ahead, the parent was able to safely carry the boy away from the traffic.
Mr Zhao noted that the village lies right next to a provincial highway, where fast-moving vehicles—both large and small—pose a constant safety risk. He urged parents to keep a close eye on their children to prevent such near-misses in the future.
