Smart chimpanzee beats the heat by fanning itself with cardboard after watching zookeeper
On July 12 at Qinhuangdao Wildlife Park in Hebei, a 19-year-old chimpanzee amazed visitors with its remarkable imitation skills amid scorching temperatures.
After observing a zookeeper using a fan to cool down, the chimpanzee took the initiative to find a cardboard box as a substitute and began fanning itself by mimicking human movements. Impressively, it even switched hands on its own when one grew tired.
Weather reports indicated that since July 12, multiple yellow heat alerts were issued across Shandong, with local temperatures exceeding 40°C.
To help animals cope with the intense heat, Qinhuangdao Wildlife Park has implemented various cooling measures, including air-conditioned rooms, chilled fruits, and ice blocks.
