Chimpanzee kindly returns dropped toy to tourist
A chimpanzee kindly returned a toy dropped into his enclosure by a tourist in eastern China.
Video filmed in the city of Weihai in Shandong Province on August 13 shows, a 13-year-old chimpanzee named Dongdong picking up a stuffed toy and placing it into a bucket for the keeper to get it back for a tourist.
As a token of appreciation for Dongdong's kind gesture, the zookeeper fed him a bag of milk, which he gleefully accepted.
A spokesperson for the park revealed, "Dongdong has always had a special place in our hearts. Born and raised here in the park, he was hand-reared by our dedicated keepers and has always shown a unique closeness to humans."
But there's more to Dongdong's story. Inside his enclosure, he shares his space with a little pig named 'Huanhuan.' The two have formed an unexpected friendship, adding a touch more magic to Dongdong's tale.
"Dongdong was always different from the other chimpanzees in the park," explained the park staff. "We were worried he might feel isolated, so we thought a gentle, non-aggressive companion would be perfect for him. That's how Huanhuan came into his life."
The video was provided by local media with permission.
