Monkey crosses road by clambering across power lines 'like a human'
Around 3 p.m. on July 23 in Guiyang, Guizhou Province, a monkey was spotted walking upright on high-voltage power lines. Like a human, it stood on two legs and held onto the wires with its “hands,” moving swiftly across.
Staff from the Guiyang Wildlife Management Station responded that the monkey is a wild macaque that had wandered out of Qianling Mountain Park. Due to Guiyang’s mountainous terrain and the park’s semi-open design, monkeys often roam freely into urban areas in search of food. However, this is the first time one has been seen walking on high-voltage lines.
Officials said they plan to guide the monkey back to the forest using food and will continue monitoring its movements and any potential safety risks.
