Hundreds in Jakarta rally in solidarity with Palestine

VARIOUS OF PROTESTORS MARCHING, CHANTING SLOGANS AND BANGING POTS AND PANS AS THEY CARRY PALESTINIAN FLAGS AND BANNERS JAKARTA, INDONESIA - JULY 27, 2025: Hundreds of demonstrators gathered in central Jakarta on Sunday, July 27, to march in support of Palestinians, protesting what they described as Israel’s genocidal actions in Gaza.
Participants waved Palestinian flags, carried posters, and banged pots and pans to denounce the ongoing war.
Chanting “Stop-stop genocide! Free-free Palestine!”, protesters condemned the humanitarian toll on civilians—particularly children—and also criticized the United States for backing Israel militarily and politically.
The World Food Program warned that one in every three people in Gaza had gone without food for several days due to the ongoing Israeli blockade.
Rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has pursued a brutal offensive on Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023, killing more than 59,700 Palestinians, most of them women and children. The relentless bombardment has destroyed the enclave and led to food shortages.
Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
