Devotees wore ghost costumes while dancing to music during a bizarre Buddhist festival in Thailand.

Footage shows the locals wearing their homemade creepy black suits with hand-drawn skeletons and crafted monstrous headdresses as they shook along to the beat in Nakhon Si Thammarat province, Thailand.

The ghost costumes were supposed to depict spirits of the deceased for the Suat Duan Sip or the Festival of the Tenth Lunar Month on October 14.

The festival is based on the belief that during the tenth month of the lunar calendar, the gates of hell are opened and the spirits of the dead are allowed to return to the earth.

During this time, people make offerings to their ancestors, such as food, flowers, and candles. They also visit temples to pray and to make merit for the dead.
