Sweden: China, US agree to push for tariff pause extension after Stockholm trade talks
Storyline: China, US agree to push for tariff pause extension after Stockholm trade talks [Voice_over] China and the United States have agreed to push for the continued extension of tariff pauses on each other. The two sides ended their latest round of economic and trade talks on Tuesday in Stockholm. Both sides say they will continue pushing for an extension of a 90-day pause on the US' 24-percent reciprocal tariffs and Chinese countermeasures. Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng called on the US to work with China in striving for more win-win outcomes. Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce Li Chenggang said the two days of bilateral discussions in Stockholm have been in-depth, candid and constructive. [Sound_bite] Li Chenggang, China's International Trade Representative/Vice Minister of Commerce: "Over the last day and a half, the trade and economic teams of China and the United States have followed the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, China and the United States, in their June 5 phone call, continue to give great play to the role of the China-U.S. trade and economy consultation mechanism, and had in-depth, candid and constructive exchanges over important topics of mutual interest. Both sides are fully aware of the importance of safeguarding a stable and sound China-U.S. trade and economic relationship. Both sides had comprehensive and in-depth exchange over each other's macroeconomy. Both sides reviewed the implementation of the Geneva and London consensus and fully recognized the implementation. Of course, both sides also had candid exchanges over each other's major trade and economic concerns. According to the consensus between China and the U.S., the two sides will continue to push for the continued extension of the pause on the 24-percent part of the reciprocal tariffs on the U.S. side, as well as the countermeasures on the Chinese side. The two economic and trade teams will continue to maintain close communication and have timely exchanges on trade and economic topics. We’ll continue to push for the stable and sound development of our bilateral trade and economic relationship. Thank you all." [Restrictions : No access Chinese mainland]
