[Sound_bite] He Yadong, Spokesman, China’s Ministry of Commerce: "According to the consensus reached at the China-US talks in Stockholm, both sides will continue to work toward extending the suspension of the US tariffs—up to 24%—and China’s reciprocal countermeasures for another 90 days." [Voice_over] The Ministry called the consultation in Stockholm “candid, in-depth, and constructive”. [Sound_bite] He Yadong, Spokesman, China’s Ministry of Commerce: "China looks forward to working with the US to follow through on the important consensus reached by the two Presidents. By making full use of the bilateral trade consultation mechanism, both sides can deepen dialogue and aim for more mutually beneficial outcomes." [Voice_over] The dialogue that took place in Stockholm went beyond tariffs, and moved to deeper macroeconomic issues - laying the foundation for cooperation, even as key differences remain. China's foreign trade posted a record-setting performance in the first half of the year, with exports surpassing 1.8 trillion US dollars. International trade expert Cui Fan says China's robust economic performance has provided solid grounding for the country in trade negotiations. [Sound_bite] Cui Fan, Professor, School of International Trade and Economics, University of International Business and Economics: "China has consistently contributed over 30% to global economic growth. Its massive domestic market, strong internal demand, and long-term development potential provide a solid foundation for managing international trade and economic relations."
