Multiple organizations in Palestine have expressed hope that a just-concluded high-level international conference at the UN headquarters will lead to a practical implementation of the two-state solution. The high-level international conference for the peaceful settlement of the question of Palestine and the implementation of the two-state solution concluded its general debate at the UN headquarters on Wednesday. An outcome document was circulated to delegations for consideration, and the conference, co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia, will reconvene at a later date to take action on the text of the document. The three-day conference, mandated by the UN General Assembly in December 2024, was originally scheduled for June but was postponed following the outbreak of the conflict between Iran and Israel. Several countries, including Britain and Singapore, have announced their intention to recognize the State of Palestine. "This initiative launched by France and Saudi Arabia is very important, because it reflects and proposes an approach to the political solution required in the region, which is ending the occupation through a political process based on international legitimate resolutions. Ending the occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state is consistent with the demand of the Palestinian people for the right of self-determination, as affirmed by international legitimate resolutions," said Ramzi Rabah, a member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization. "This conference aims to affirm the rights of the Palestinian people and to demand an end to war and occupation. This certainly responds to the rights and demands of the Palestinian people, and is very important in creating widespread and influential international pressure on Israel," Rabah said.
