4. (SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) MOTHER, RASHA DALI, SAYING:

"I am Rasha Al-Dali, the mother of the child Ibtisam Al-Dali. Ibtisam is a girl suffering from malnutrition. We recently discovered this. We are currently with her alongside the medical team in the pediatric and malnutrition department. She is now in the hospital because we lost access to the formula milk she needs — it’s no longer available in the market. We also lost her nutritional supplements due to the blockade and the closure of the crossings.

Her weight was 10 kilograms — now it’s 6. She lost weight, lost essential nutrients, and she can no longer fight off diseases because she has no access to healthy food, no supplements, and no proper milk. She urgently needs her special milk and nutritional supplements. I hope that everyone who sees Ibtisam's case will help — help her travel to get treatment, to recover, and to receive therapeutic supplements, her specialized milk and everything else she needs. I also call on all international organizations, human rights groups, and the World Health Organization — anyone who sees her situation — to treat her humanely and with compassion. Ibtisam must be treated. She deserves a safe and healthy life, just like all the other children in the world."

7. (SOUNBITE) (Arabic) MOTHER, AYA ABU TAIMA, SAYING:

"At first, he was okay — Mohammad Usfur was okay — he used to smile, play around, and respond when we called him. But he stopped developing, he no longer eats. Where is the milk? Where is the formula? There’s nothing left in Gaza.
He truly suffers from malnutrition — his blood level is very low — and there’s no escape. His body is weak, he’s thin — just bones. He has constant dehydration, fever, and sometimes severe diarrhea — it reaches extreme stages. His body is wasting away. He only drinks milk sometimes — we try to dip our finger in a little milk and place it on his tongue. And there are no diapers. I can’t even get him a diaper. It’s heartbreaking. Just like my son, it’s heartbreaking. How can a mother bear seeing her son like this unable to eat, unable to hold anything in and there’s nothing in Gaza. I can’t even feed him. I can’t even get him a diaper only sometimes with help from others. Sometimes there’s blood in the stool diarrhea with blood."

8. VARIOUS OF BABY MUHAMMAD’S BODY AND SIGNS OF SEVERE MALNUTRITION KHAN YUNIS, PALESTINE - AUG. 4: Children in southern Gaza, suffering from severe malnutrition, are facing life-threatening conditions as the humanitarian crisis deepens under Israel’s ongoing blockade.

At Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis, three-year-old Ibtisam al-Dali is being treated for acute malnutrition and muscle spasms. Her mother, Rasha Dali, said Ibtisam’s weight had plummeted from 10 kilograms to just 6.

“She was born at a healthy 3.3 kilograms and grew normally,” Rasha said, showing old photographs of her daughter. “Now her immune system is so weak that she can’t fight off even minor illnesses.”

In the same hospital, 16-month-old Muhammad Usfur is also battling the devastating effects of malnutrition. His mother, Aya Abu Taima, said he suffers from high fever, breathing difficulties, and impairments in both hearing and vision.

She noted that her son’s bones were visible and that he weighed only 4 kilograms—half of what he should.

Both mothers urged international organizations to intervene and provide access to external medical care, as food and medicine remain scarce in Gaza.

Israel has continued to impose a systematic starvation policy on approximately 2.4 million Palestinians in Gaza by sealing off all crossings to aid shipments, which have been stranded at the border since March 2.

The blockade has pushed the enclave into famine.

On Saturday, Gaza’s Health Ministry reported that seven more Palestinians, including a child, had died from starvation, raising the total death toll from hunger to 169, including 93 children, since Oct. 7, 2023.

Gaza’s Government Media Office said Monday that Israel had allowed in just 674 aid trucks since July 27 – only 14% of the strip’s minimum daily requirement of 600 trucks.

The Israeli army, rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, has pursued a brutal offensive on Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023, killing nearly 61,000 Palestinians, almost half of them women and children. Israel’s military campaign has devastated the enclave and brought it to the verge of famine.

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
