SMOKE RISING FROM ATTACKED AREAGAZA, PALESTINE - AUG. 6: The Israeli military launched an airstrike on a health facility operated by the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) in northern Gaza on Wednesday, Aug. 6. The strike heavily damaged the UNRWA building and surrounding area in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, where displaced Palestinians had been sheltering. The Israeli army, rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, has pursued a brutal offensive on Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023, killing more than 61,000 Palestinians, almost half of them women and children. Israel’s military campaign has devastated the enclave and brought it to the verge of famine. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
