[Voiceover] Over the past six decades, Xizang has undergone a dramatic transformation – from a poor and isolated area to a more modern and prosperous region. In 2024, the region’s GDP reached over 270 billion yuan – 155 times higher than in 1965. Officials say, the region’s GDP growth has ranked among the top in China for several years. [Soundbite] Wang Junzheng, Party Secretary, Xizang Autonomous Region: "Xizang's economy has grown steadily in both scale and quality. Modern industries such as clean energy, cultural tourism, and highland light manufacturing are flourishing. A modern industrial system is taking shape, and the region’s ability to develop independently continues to improve." [Voiceover] Xizang now boasts a comprehensive transport system covering highways, railways, and airports. Even in remote villages, electricity and internet access are fully available. With better access to education, healthcare, and social welfare, people’s lives have improved significantly. We've carried out ten key livelihood projects to deliver tangible benefits – making sure children are cared for, students are educated, the elderly are supported, healthcare is accessible, housing is secure, and vulnerable groups are protected." [Voiceover] Officials say ecological protection has been a top priority. Green development has also supported job growth, bringing new opportunities to local communities.
