DEIR AL-BALAH, GAZA, PALESTINE - AUGUST 6, 2025: Humanitarian airdrops continued over Gaza on Wednesday, August 6, as famine conditions worsen across the besieged enclave amid Israel’s months-long blockade.
Military cargo planes released aid packages over Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, where groups of Palestinians gathered in the hope of securing desperately needed supplies. Some were able to retrieve the parachuted aid after it landed.
Gaza is enduring one of the worst humanitarian crises in its history, with famine intensifying the impact of the ongoing genocidal war perpetrated by Israel since Oct. 7, 2023.
Israel has fully closed all crossings into Gaza since March 2, 2025, blocking the entry of food and medical supplies, which has exacerbated famine conditions across the territory.
According to the latest figures from the Health Ministry, at least 193 Palestinians, including 96 children, have died due to Israeli-induced starvation and malnutrition since the genocide began.
It also noted that 87 Palestinians were killed and 570 injured while trying to get humanitarian aid in the past day, bringing the total number of Palestinians killed while seeking aid to 1,655, with over 11,800 others wounded since May 27.
Rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, the Israeli army has pursued genocide in Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023, killing nearly 61,200 Palestinians, most of them women and children. The relentless bombardment has destroyed the enclave and led to food shortages.
Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
