This is the dramatic moment the Dragon Bravo Fire in California spawned a terrifying pyrocumulus cloud.

Timelapse footage shows the massive cloud formation towering in the skies on July 30.

The Dragon Bravo Fire broke out on July 4 as a result of a lightning strike and spread quickly due to rugged terrain and strong winds.

Authorities said the blaze has scorched more than 130,000 acres in Arizona, north of the Grand Canyon.

Health officials warn that breathing wildfire smoke can be hazardous. Residents are advised to remain indoors, keep doors and windows closed, and use air purifiers if available.

Those who must go outside are urged to wear N95 masks and avoid strenuous activity.

Pyrocumulus clouds, also known as fire clouds, form when intense heat from wildfires causes air to rise rapidly. As the hot air rises, it carries ash, smoke, and moisture high into the atmosphere. When the moisture cools and condenses, it creates large, thunderstorm-like clouds above the fire.
