A Chinese wingsuit flyer tragically died after crashing into rugged terrain during a flight in Italy.

The airborne daredevil, known as Randy Z, 25, was found lifeless in the mountainous region of Badia, South Tyrol.

Helmet-mounted camera footage captured his flight a day before the doomed leap. He can be seen leaping from the canyon edge and gliding across the stunning alpine landscape on August 5.

His companion, who had jumped moments earlier, said that Randy took off from Piz da Lech but failed to return within the expected flight window.

Concerned by his absence, the friend alerted local authorities.

Emergency services, including the Alta Badia CNSAS mountain rescue team and the Aiut Alpin Dolomites rescue helicopter, launched a search operation.

The rescuers spotted his body on a steep, rocky slope, retrieving it using a 115 ft (35 m) winch.

To access the difficult terrain, they deployed 360ft (110 m) of fixed rope before airlifting the deceased flyer.

His body was later flown by helicopter to Kolfuschg after receiving clearance from the public prosecutor's office and under the direction of the financial police.
