This is the heartwarming moment two farmyard cows helped pull a crashed car out of a muddy field in Indonesia.

The white car veered into the overgrown land after trying to overtake a truck on a slippery road in Rembang Regency, Central Java, on November 9.

Instead of hiring a tow truck, quick-thinking locals trotted out the two bovines to haul the vehicle back to safety.

Footage shows the cows dragging the car through a muddy path as residents pushed it from behind.

Villager Widodo Groho said: 'The road was narrow and slippery, so the car skidded into the field. Because access for a tow truck was difficult, we used the traditional method with cows. It was faster and more effective.'

The car was successfully towed back onto the motorway, and the driver thanked the locals for their help.

Cows play a vital role in Indonesia's rural economy, providing meat, milk, labour, and manure for fertilising crops.
