ALEPPO, SYRIA - AUGUST 7: A two-story building collapsed in Syria’s Aleppo province, killing three people and injuring eight others on Thursday, August 7.
The building, located in southern Aleppo, had been sheltering a displaced family.
Civil defense teams reported that three members of the same family lost their lives, while eight others were rescued with injuries and taken to nearby hospitals.
Search and rescue operations are ongoing as crews continue removing debris.
The building had previously suffered heavy damage in airstrikes carried out by forces of the now-toppled Bashar al-Assad regime. The family had returned to the area after the regime's withdrawal and moved into the damaged structure.
Many similarly damaged buildings across Syria pose ongoing risks to civilian safety.
