Three construction workers were killed when a lift collapsed at a construction site in Brazil.

The labourers, aged 20, 26, and 43, fell 17 floors at the unfinished building when the external structure crashed to the ground in Sao Paulo on May 19.

Footage shows chaos at the site as colleagues frantically tried to search for the men amid the wreckage.

Ambulances and police quickly responded to the scene and launched a rescue operation, but the workers were later confirmed dead.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the collapse.

While Sao Paulo Mayor Ricardo Nunes confirmed that the construction company had complied with all necessary permits.
