US: Fake Nurse Arrested After Treating Over 4,400 Patients Without License
Bunnell, United States - August 05, 2025 Authorities arrested 29-year-old Autumn Bardisa of Palm Coast following a seven-month investigation that uncovered her impersonation of a registered nurse while providing medical care to thousands of patients without a valid license. The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office launched the probe in January 2025 after AdventHealth Palm Coast Parkway administrators reported Bardisa for using another nurse’s license number and submitting false documents to secure employment as an advanced nurse technician. Bardisa was hired on July 3, 2023, claiming to be an “education first” registered nurse who had completed nursing school but not yet passed the national exam. During the hiring process, she asserted she had passed the exam and provided a license number matching another nurse named Autumn, but with a different last name. Bardisa explained this by saying she had recently married but never produced a marriage license when requested. In January 2025, when Bardisa was offered a promotion, a coworker verified her license status and discovered only an expired certified nursing assistant license. This prompted AdventHealth to investigate further and terminate her employment on January 22, 2025, after she failed to confirm her identity. Following her dismissal, AdventHealth notified law enforcement. Investigators from the sheriff’s office, the Florida Department of Health, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services reviewed documents and interviewed staff. They found Bardisa had treated 4,486 patients between June 2024 and January 2025 without a valid nursing license. On August 5, authorities arrested Bardisa on seven counts each of practicing healthcare without a license and fraudulent use of personal identification. She remains in custody on a $70,000 bond. Sheriff Rick Staly described the case as “one of the most disturbing cases of medical fraud we’ve ever investigated,” warning Bardisa “potentially put thousands of lives at risk” and will now face justice.
