LAGOS, NIGERIA - AUGUST 8: Pro-Palestine protest and conference was held on Friday (Aug. 8) in the Lagos city of Nigeria to draw attention to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza caused by Israel.

Hundreds of people marched in support of Palestinians and attended the conference organized by some Islamic civil society organizations under the leadership of the Conference of Islamic Organizations (CIO).

Speaking at the conference, CIO Spokesperson Sheikh Abdurrahman Ahmad described Israel's attacks on the Gaza Strip as “genocide” and called on the international community to take urgent action.

Israel has been facing mounting outrage over its destructive war on Gaza, where more than 61,200 people have been killed since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, which is facing famine.

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
