Thai man, 55, falls to his death while taking selfie at waterfall
A Thai man fell to his death while taking selfies at a waterfall in southern Thailand.
Dejadhorn Tientubtim, 55, was holding a selfie stick with his phone attached when he lost his footing at the fourth tier of the Chan Ta Then waterfall in Chonburi province on August 12.
He screamed as he plummeted around 50ft before smashing his head onto the rocks below.
Shocked tourists called emergency responders after discovering his mangled body lying face-down in a river at 2:36 pm local time.
Rescue teams trekked a mile up a steep path to reach the waterfall, where they believe Dejadhorn had slipped on wet rocks.
The Phiew Yeang Tai Sriracha Rescue Team said: 'At the scene, one deceased male was found. He fell from the cliff and hit the rocks below. He was lying face down and submerged, with a sunken left side of his face and a broken right leg.'
They added that a phone and a selfie stick were found at the point where Dejadhorn was believed to have fallen.
Police documented the scene and informed his family. His body was taken to Laem Chabang Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Dejadhorn's friend, Rangzy Love, wrote onlinet: 'Throughout our 12 years of working together here, you were not only my senior but also my friend — we worked hard together, we had fun together. I never thought we would part so suddenly without a chance to say goodbye.
'For any wrongdoings I may have committed toward you — whether through body, speech, or mind, whether intentionally or unintentionally — I humbly ask for your forgiveness. May you rest in peace and be reborn into a good realm. With love and deepest condolences.'
