DAMASCUS, SYRIA - AUGUST 14: The Syrian Civil Defense, also known as the White Helmets, organized solidarity rallies in multiple provinces on Thursday, Aug. 14, calling for the immediate release of volunteer Hamza Al-Amarin, who was abducted last month in southern Syria.

Al-Amarin, a member of the humanitarian rescue group, was reportedly seized by armed groups on July 16 while conducting a mission in Sweida province. Demonstrations took place in Daraa, Aleppo, Latakia, Idlib, Hama, and Homs, with participants urging international intervention to secure his safe return.

According to reports, protesters demanded that human rights organizations and the global community take immediate action to pressure for Al-Amarin’s release and hold his captors accountable.

Al-Amarin had previously participated in firefighting efforts during wildfires in Latakia’s forests earlier in July. His abduction occurred amid heightened tensions in Sweida, where a ceasefire was declared on July 19 following deadly clashes between Druze factions and Bedouin tribes.
