Robots developed by Unitree Robotics claimed gold in the 4x100 metre relay at the first-ever World Humanoid Robot Games held in Beijing on August 17.

The event saw 280 teams from 16 countries take part in events such as long jump, football, and running.

Robots developed by Hangzhou-based Unitree Robotics claimed 4×100 meters relay tiles at the inaugural World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing on Sunday, becoming the first champions of the sport event in the world of humanoid robots. In the final at the National Speed Skating Oval, an Olympic venue known as the "Ice Ribbon," Unitree's robots outpaced rivals from the Beijing-based National and Local Co-built Embodied AI Robotics Innovation Center, who took silver, while Yobotics humanoid robots from east China's Shandong secured bronze. Different from human, the relay among robots doesn't require batons. It only needs two robots in the same team to finish lateral overlap of their bodies. Running from Thursday to Sunday, the 2025 World Humanoid Robot Games attracted 280 teams from 16 countries, including the United States, Germany and Italy. Competitors took part in 26 events, spanning running, long jump, free exercises and football, and skills-based tasks like moving materials, sorting drugs and cleaning across different scenarios.
