US, Bakersfield: Bakersfield Kern Canyon Road Closed Due to Mudslides
Bakersfield, United States - August 24, 2025 08/24/2025 03:20 pm GMT-0700 BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Kern Canyon Road is closed from the intersection of Highway 178 to Borel Road due to mudslides covering the roadway. This road was originally a detour around the Highway 178 closure because of the Little Fire. The California Highway Patrol and the Kern County Fire Department received multiple reports of stuck vehicles along the affected stretch. However, drivers managed to free their vehicles before first responders arrived. Currently, the Kern County Roads Department is working to clear the roads, and it is expected that it will take several days before the roadway is reopened.
