ROBOTS COLLECTING MEDICINE BOXES FROM SHELVESBEIJING, CHINA - AUGUST 17: The World Humanoid Robot Games (WHRG), the world’s first large-scale competition for humanoid robots, wrapped up on Sunday, August 17, in China with final matches in sports and practical performance categories. The final day featured 4x100 relay races, 3v3 and 5v5 football matches, and kickboxing events. Robots also competed in scenario-based challenges, including hotel tasks like delivering luggage from reception to rooms, and hospital tasks like retrieving medications from shelves based on prescriptions. Held in cooperation with the Beijing Municipal Government, China Media Group, the World Robot Cooperation Organization, and RoboCup Asia-Pacific, the event hosted 280 teams from 15 countries, including the US, Germany, Japan, and Malaysia. More than 500 humanoid robots developed by robotics companies, universities, research institutes, clubs, and independent developers competed in athletics, gymnastics, football, kickboxing, and applied performance categories. Events also included solo and group dance performances and practical tests in material handling, sorting, and organization.
