China: China's first humanoid robot experience center opens in Jiangsu
China's first humanoid robot experience center opened in Wuxi City of Jiangsu Province on Tuesday. The center includes eight immersive interactive zones on different themes such as boxing matches, chess-card games and other services covering industries, businesses and housekeeping. "We had a great time of fun here, especially that robot dog, I feel I can play with it for a whole day. The robot dog can help pick up packages and make other runs. It's really a high-tech thing," said a visitor to the center with her primary school son. Experts said the use of humanoid robots will be gradually extended from industrial applications in automotive manufacturing, electronic devices and smart logistics to commercial services within five years. They will be widely used in the areas of elderly care, medical rehabilitation, retail guides and other services. In five to ten years, the humanoid robot industry will converge with the personal computer and smart phone industries to form a vast industrial ecosystem. "The global humanoid robot market is expected to reach 154 billion U.S. dollars by 2035. It is estimated that after 2045, there will be more than 100 million humanoid robots in use in China for various industries, and the overall market size might be up to 10 trillion yuan (about 1.4 trillion U.S. dollars)," said Zhong Xinlong, director of the artificial intelligence research office of the China Center for Information Industry Development.
