This is the moment Palestine supporters put up posters of conflict victims on public walls in Italy.

The flyers made by Extinction Rebellion showed the names of child casualties. They were displayed in Oggiono and other towns in the Lecco province.

The posters included children allegedly killed by the Israeli army, such as Razan Abu Zaher, aged four, and 40-day-old Yousef Mohammed al Safadi.

Activists also posted a photo of Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini receiving the Italia–Israel award.

Demonstrators said the initiative aimed to raise awareness about the conflict currently affecting Palestinians and to counter the dehumanisation of victims, whose deaths are often reduced to mere statistics.

The funeral announcements were placed alongside regular municipal notices.

A spokesman for Extinction Rebellion said: 'The contested poster denounces the unmistakable complicity of the Italian State, which provides the diplomatic cover necessary for Israel to continue its war crimes and crimes against humanity while maintaining economic and military relations.'

Israel has blitzed the Gaza Strip in retaliation for an attack by the governing party Hamas on a Jewish music festival on October 7, 2023.

However, the situation, which Israel claims is self-defence, has attracted criticism from around the world.

Craig Mokhiber, a director at the United Nations, has resigned over the organisation's 'failure' to act against what he called a 'text-book case of genocide' by Israel against Gaza.
