TRAFFIC IN CROWDED STREETTEHRAN, IRAN - AUG. 23: Iranian authorities ordered the closure of public offices in Tehran and several other provinces on Saturday, Aug. 23, as extreme heat continues to grip the country, driving up energy consumption. The government and provincial administrations declared the measure to curb electricity demand after the heatwave caused a significant spike in power usage. At least 28 provinces, including the capital Tehran, will keep public institutions closed on the first day of the working week in Iran. Residents who ventured outside in Tehran could be seen cooling themselves by washing their faces with cold water amid soaring temperatures.
