A cute video has emerged of a young elephant playing with its trunk in Kruger National Park, South Africa.

The footage, shot by visitor Lisl Moolman on Wednesday, shows the pachyderm shaking its trunk around a bush.

"Upon approaching the herd, I saw an elephant calf playfully running around - the rest of the herd was feeding and relaxed,
ignoring the little calf," the filmer wrote online.

"It seemed bored and without a playmate, and tried its best to keep itself busy."

"It happened on 29 June 2016. I was enjoying a morning drive in Kruger Park. On my way to Phalaborwa gate in South Africa's
Kruger National Park, I saw a small herd of elephants feeding on the side of the road.
Upon approaching the herd, I saw an elephant calf playfully running around - the rest of the herd was feeding and relaxed,
ignoring the little calf. It seemed bored and without a playmate, and tried its best to keep itself busy.
It sat down, resting its head on its front legs. Then it shook its head and trunk around, reaching out at grass stems now
and then and nibbling on it.
It then stood up and mock-charged me several times. No noise was made, he was simply looking for someone to play with him.
When he received no response, he moved to some mopani bushes and start beating at it with his trunk. I couldn't help but
