A wedding venue was battered by heavy rain and fierce winds in Malaysia.

Footage shows white tents being struck by powerful gusts in Meru, Klang District, Selangor, on Monday, August 25.

Trees were also seen swaying violently as the freak weather continued to lash the open area.

The filmer said: ‘The wind was very strong near Meru tonight. A tree in front of the main gate snapped.'

Local media reported that two people were injured in separate incidents involving falling trees.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department issued a warning of thunderstorms and heavy rain affecting the capital and several other states until Tuesday.

The alert covers the entire Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, along with most areas in Selangor, including Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat and Sepang.

Locals are urged to stay indoors and avoid flood-prone or exposed areas during the ongoing storms.
